Lhasa, march 10

What happened at the central square.
Today we see how the real situation is in Tibet.
The day seems to be silent and peacefull, even boring. Until 6 o´clock. then 100s of Tibetans gather together on the Bakhor Square. They form a strong, silent, peacefull circle around the police who keep the middle of the square open. Soon they call for backup. Undercoveragents, not so difficult to recognize film the whole happening. Especially the faces. This is one method to create fear.  Suddenly there is panic. 6 or 7 monks are arrested and driven away. Tibetans are very scared because of the stories about the prisons and tortures. In the mean while big numbers of policemen arrive. They drive everybody apart. But until sunset small groups of people stay around. There are tourists, Tibetans and Tibetan resembling spies. Apparently we stick around to long because some Tibetans start to warn us to be careful about the undercoverpolice who are watching us closely. We even get a note that says we are being followed and have to be carefull about what we say. The whole evening misty figures keep following us, even to the restaurant and the bar.

The Chinese police almost manages to give the impression that it´s just a small manifestation that they can easily control. From our Portugees friends, Miguel and Clara, who visit one of the biggest monasteries (Drepung) nearby, we learn that the Chinese approach (away from touristic eyes) is much harder. When they walk together with lots of monks towards Lhasa to join the manifestation, they are brutely blocked by armed police and military. Miguel and Clara are picked out of the crowd (they were the only tourists at that time) and chased away. All the shop have to close and all the people around are obliged to leave the scene. They get no information and cannot ask or see anything. It is impossible to take pictures, unfortunately.
Later that day, Miguel returns and tries to get in, being very concerned about the monks. He can get very close to the monastery and sees how army trucks and ambulances go and come back from the scene. Then he is caught, questionned and dropped back at his hotel. We are very concerned what happened or still happens there, behind the scenes. Nobody will know.

Lhasa goes to sleep with a sad and uncomfortable feeling. Maybe it is hard to imagine how bad this feels. We can see now how fortunate we are, having freedom of speach, freedom of going where we like. Everybody is afraid to speak. Even us, free born people, not for our sake but for that of the Tibetans who can get in trouble just by speaking with us. It´s also very spooky to notice that we are being followed and approached by men who really try their best to look like tibetans, being unhandy with their mala. They ask us what is happening, what we have seen and if we have taken pictures.

Here a few pictures and a videoshot we dare to take, but it´s nothing like the reality we´ve seen and felt:

This bunch of harmless looking policemen where just a distraction. The undercovers were the hard men, who were also watching us closely, so taking pictures of them was no option.

Lelf a woman who obviously was watching us, tourists.

Everybody is watching and nobody can do anything...

video-shot! (look for "the man in black")

Tomorrow we leave for our beautifull trip to the Nepal border.
Tibet will always have a deep impression on us.

Please do support the Tibetans who are struggeling for some freedom

Greetings!

Requesting more awareness
Want to mention that the owner of the internet place where this report has been sent from is possibly in big trouble now. Every evening the public security picks up each internat bar´s data base of the day. Finding something like this means interrogations for the owner by using unzivilised methods. Even the faces of Tibetans in your video can cause lots of trouble for them. Do they know you ? Are they involved in such splittist action ? If you brave, naive tourists want to do support actions for Tibet, why not doing so without bringing Tibetans into danger ? The world knows about the situation in Tibet and can easily wait for your report until you have reached a "free" internet bar somewhere else. The brave ones are often not visible for the public, see the countless cases of imprisoned and tortured persons in all China, for example. Uighur, Tibetans, Han Chinese. Susanna from Germany

GANGCHENPA

Millions of Thanks to you!  It is so unbeleivable to see that for well over a half a century the cruel communist chinese have been committing unobstructed heinous crimes against the peace loving and unarmed Tibetans who are the real master of the land but now forced at gun point to endure the most cruel and savage regime in the world in this century of emncipation and enlightenment when the world has left behind the nightmares of second world war related crimes and savegery and today when the world leaders and the advanced countries of the world never get tired of boasting of the achievements made by in the sphere of upholding and protecting the dignity, freedom, liberty and fundamental human rights of the humanity as whole and when every single person responsible for the worst crimes against humanity are being tried under international law and punished and when world powers join hand in hand to defeat terrorism that they regard as menace to safe guarding that precious human dignity, peace, harmony and humanity. The utter lack of political will and courage shown by some of the most powerful nations of the world in doing anything meaningful and concrete in saving freedom and liberty of the six million tibetans the most savage and tyranical communist autocrats must compell all sane human brothers and sisters of those super nations who are in a position to stop the cultural geneocide and ethenic cleasing anywhere in the world inclduing in Tibet , to sit up and think if this is the kind of the humanity and the enlightened global family the past great leaders of the world had  envisioned, worked for and happily sacrificed everything.

The happenings inside Tibet and the utter lack of political will from the global players in stopping the on going crimes committed against the six millions tibetans and other people including chinese citizens themselves by the autocratic communist rulers, send to the entire one signal- that there is only solution to the problem and that is the TOTAL AND COMPLETE INDEPENDENCE OF TIBET AND ALL OTHER SMALLER INDEPENDENT NATIONS GOBBLLED BY THE MAOIST COMMUNIST CHINA.

It is high time, every thinking human must rise thier voice against the shameful act of sacrificing humanity at the altar of trade and business profits.

It is high time the entire humanity awake and arise to redeem thier true spirit of eternal freedom and independence and not succumb to the might of gun power and money power which can only bring short term illusory happiness and achievements which are bound to end in distress and insurmountable misery and suffering.

The world leaders must be accountable to the future of the whole humanity, to the future of the world and this beatiful planet whose destiny we certainly do not want to entrust to a bunch of tyrants, dictators, power carzy brutal regimes playing lord over the universe weilding arms and guns when the half the human population is suffering because of thier cruelty, tyranny and greed.

It is high time, THE PEOPLE OF TIBET DECLARED INDEPENDENCE OF TIBET!

After nearly fifty years of dealing with the autocratic communist regime and the international community, it is now more than clear for the six million tibetans living both in and out Tibet tha for them there is but only two choices:  EITHER WE CHOOSE TO LET DIE OUR NATION PEOPLE UNDER CHINESE GENOCIDAL POLICY OR DECLARE OURSELVES ī INDEPENDENTī AND NEVER EVER ACCEPT ILLEGAL COMMUNIST CHINESE REGIME. Let hundred of our future generations perish in living with this DREAM OF INDEPENDENCE, the next generation will certainly ACHIEVE this, for as only couple of days ago a famous Chinese national basketball Olynpic palyers who defected to Taiwan and now lives in Taiwan retirted in a Taiwanese Radio Programeme that we MUST BELEIVE THAT NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, then everything is possible!

It is time our Tibetan youths learn to spend more time studying freedom and indepence movement going on other parts of the world and take solemn pledge on the occasion of the 49th Martyrs Day and 1959 TIBETAN NATIONAL UPRISING DAY that our first and foremost duty  ( DHARMA) is to our nation TIBET and to restoring its lost dignity and glory and shall do everything possible to achieving this NATIONAL GOAL!

Heartfelt gratitude and thanks to every single person in the world who is helping us in our struggle for INDEPENDENCE FOR TIBET from illegal communist Chinese rule!

MOST POWERFUL WEAPON THE HUMANITY HAS EVER DISCOVERED IN ITS HISTORY of its civilization IS THE POWER OF TRUTH!   TRUTH SHALL PREVAIL!  TIBET WILL BE INDEPENDENT SOONER THAN WE COULD TRUST OURSELVES!  We tibetans JUST need to KEEP THIS HOPE alive INSIDE ourseleves!

HAIL THE POWER OF TRUTH AND INVINCIBILITY OF THE PRIMORDIAL LIBERTY AND INDEPENDENCE OF EVERY HUMAN SOUL!

I feel strange feelings and sadness

Thanks for your report friends !
When I look to your movie I really feel something bad soon will come in Tibet ... we all know the Olympic Games will lead to some crash between tibetan people and their torturers ...
I was two times in Lhasa, in 2000 and in 2005. What I felt the last time was something very strong in my heart.
Today when I look to your movie I know a new suffering time has come in Tibet.

pain in the pit of my stomach...

Even though we know so well what goes on inside Tibet, it upset me so much to read this. Maybe it is because this is a heightened emotional time with the March here in India and the reports of protests across Tibet.

You write so well. And you are brave. I feel choked up at the thought of the suffering, of the fear, and the pain some must be going through right now as I write this. But not just this. Also because of the hope, courage and the compassion of our people and our supporters. I also feel so thankful to you and everyone who is working so hard, right now, for the Tibetan people and nation.

Please donīt let any criticism from anyone get you down. You have done the right thing. You are our only witnesses.

Take further action

It was probably not easy to make these disturbing takes when the police is watching every gesture. I remember sitting at dusk in front of the Tsuglakhang showing a bunch of Tibetan youngsters photographs of pro-Tibet demonstrations in France with lots of flags floating. One of them suddenly exclaimed "Police is coming", and they all ran away at full speed...

Why not send this video to the president of the Olympic Committee, Jacques ROGGE, to make him realise his big mistake ?
The 2001 promises by the Chinese governement to obtain the Games have been trampled on many many times since.
And Suzanna is right, extreme caution should be used when doing that kind of reporting. Tibetans appearing too close to foreigners could be in trouble afterwards.

What is the fuss?

All those uniformed personnels donīt carry batons or handguns -- in fact they are unarmed.  So what does your video actually want to show?

Violence?  Repression?  Discrimination?

Covert surveillance?  That is probably the only point this video can prove.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for sharing this very rare glimpse of the real situation in Tibet that the Chinese will never allow the world to see.  Behind all the propanganda and all the smearing of information, oppression is still oppression no matter how many ways to spin it and how many people you tell it to.  I visited Chengdu and Tibet late October and it drove me absolutely crazy how blind-sighted the local Chinese people were and how much they blindly believe every word of the Chinese government when it comes to Tibet (I speak Mandarin and our tour agency was Chinese).  Every Chinese we talked to said the same thing - the Chinese government was doing Tibet a benefit by modernizing the region and the people.  But in our hearts we know the truth and Iīll continue to fight for a Free Tibet.

Thank you for your courage and for showing us the truth and touching our hearts.

Take pressure on your governments to boycott the Olympic games

The Chinese régime is one of the last real communist - fascist régimes in the world. It has to be overturned. This régime is an anachronism and not worth to be called human.

Tibet people must have the right to vote on its independence.

We should all join to put pressure and start a large campaign all over the world to boycott the Olympic games in China, a real fascist dictatorship !

No free Tibet without a free China

This is not a Tibetan problem, it is a Chinese problem. From Beijing to Shenzhen to the inner most villages in the Anhui region, China reels under the heavy hand of the ruling regime.

Christians are persecuted so are Muslims. Migrant workers have no rights, and land is appropriated from villagers with little or no compensation.

We should resist the temptation of treating Tibet in isolation. There will be no free Tibet without a free China.

I have been to Tibet.
On ordinary days, you feel the oppression constantly from the Chinese. Soldiers and double agents are everywhere.
In Shigatsé, we were sitting in a restaurant and complain about the music. They were playing Chinese music and we made a comment about the fact that we wanted Tibetan music. A men in the restaurant followed us the rest of our stay in Shigatsé.
You dont have to do much to be a threat for the Chinese peopleé

Hats off to your couragious character!!!!

I am very happy that you had shown to outside world about the real situation in Tibet under the Chinese repression. Thank you very much heartily for your couragious and openly spread out the uprising by some Tibetan monks from Sera monastery in Tibet. We need more like you. As you know, there are less strict and less danger on the Western tourists if they acts in support for Tibetīs cause because the Chinese communist army canīt suppress on you negligently as they donot want to show their rude behaviour to the outisde world. But they can easily beat up and suppress Tibetan people, as it is hardly known outside the world. Not even UN could do much on China.
When I was in Tibet last year in August month,I met two Israeli tourists. We went together in the bus to Gaden monastery. They are telling many stories of their problem face in touring Tibetīs region. They are charged a lot for entry fees in Potala, Sera and other monasteries etc. They ask me the suprising question: Where are these entire money going? Who charge it all,Tibetan or Chinese? I answered them that these are all fixed by Chinese office in Tibet and the money are not spent for the poor Tibetans cause. This is the true one.
I would be very happy if you would give us more detail about the uprising occured in Lhasa. You can also request other tourist friends to give their account.

our reaction, Steve and Ulrike

In reaction to "No free tibet without a free China" from King Jaja:
We think and feel the same, seeing the media in China.

Just know that we only had good experiences with Chinese people on our travel, in and out of Tibet, excluding Chinese officials in Lhasa. Please let there be freedom and respect for everybody.

To everybody who reacts on our report:
We never thought these words would reach so many people and cause so much reactions. It shows that freedom of speech is so vital, and that it is inhuman not to have it. We hope that other travellers from free countries will not hesitate to express what they feel and think. We have nothing to fear. If there is fear in a country, then there is something really wrong with the government.

The Chinese government does not have a slightest respect for the Tibetan rights and the Tibetan culture. Torture, intimidation, fear, lies, propaganda,, bully and suppression are their tools to deal with the Tibetans and the the issue of Tibet. freetibet

the situation in tibet is very sad, developed countries like usa, canada, england etc. know what is going on in tibet, however they choose to ignore our situation.........i know we donīt have oil like kuwait and other arab nations but our blood is as red as their and we are as human as rest of the world. tibetan in tibet never had freedom of speech and they still donīt, the job oppertunities are limited to tibetan; chinese do not allow tibetans to freely travel within tibet or anyother countries. for example, if tibetan living in village wants to visit lhasa (capital of tibet), they need to get visa........sounds so crazy to me. i live in toronto, do i need visa to visit ottawa or anyother town in canada.........thats is totally controling????
tibetan in tibet are brutely punished for preaching "free tibet"; they get thrown in jail and beaten to death. all china bring to their people is shame, although we suffer and struggle everyday for our freedom, i am very proud to be tibetan.
one of my chinese friend told me that they have to bow to psyo "mao tse tungīs" headious picture every morning and before going to bed. well, we bow for someone we have respect for, and respect should be coming from freewill. "Mao tse tung" is devil, and i am sure he is burning in hell for every drop of our brother and sisterīs blood he drank while he had his filthy life.
i am not angry at chinese people, its their government and policy that is crazy, i feel sorry for chinese people. they have their country but chinese travel millions of miles in cargo ship looking for better life in west.........

Rare pictures of Tibet

Thank you for doing this for us tibetans.
There is really nothing the world can see the real picture of what is happening in Tibet during such a long occupation of Tibet by Chinese.

Tibet is practically a slaughter house closed to the outside world.
This is the way the chinese do in Tibet with their so called liberation of Tibet.
They boast to the world of their achievements in building infrastructures like railways in Tibet, but only to invite more chinese to occupy Tibet.
Thus they shamelessly claim Tibet to be theirs.

Never, will we allow them to get away that easy. And we will succeed with more helps like yours in bringing out the real pictures of Tibet under Chinese brutallity.

Think of American Indians, Australian Aborigines, Invasions In World War II, the Iraq-War, etc.

Just review to the age of slaughter to American  Indians.
But now, if the American  Indians want to setup an independent country in USA, will americans agree?
Will Australians agree? Will the USA army evacuate from Iraq?
Nowadays, hardly any people cares about what happen to those invaded.
In fact, nobody is more lofty than anyone else.

So, donīt expect any virtual effect would such demonstration gain. I consider nothing concession would be made by Chinese.

Well done & take care!

(and ignore the ignorant & brainwashed chinese comments, they appear everywhere on the net, you see ppl like that all the time on youtube commenting on videoīs about Tibet; constantly, everyday again and again, as long as it takes them to tire-out their opponents - it must be a very well-payed job...  I am sure china as a nation is making some progress in terms of human rights and prosperity, but I am pretty sure that any increase in prosperity in Tibet is only to the benefit of han-chinese colonists, not so much the orignal Tibetan population. O, and the comparison to native Indians and Aboriginals is ridiculous, it only confirms that chinaīs act in Tibet is equally evil as what has been done to these peoples - itīs basically pleading "guilty"!)

CIA is in charge of this affair

Those protestants are not really fighting for human rights and domocracy. They are actually criminals in Tibet and hired by CIA. Their mission is to pretend to be the protestants fighting for human rights and to fake that the Tibetians are under brutal ruling of CCP.

Tibet is developing very fast under the directions of Tibet goverment and has got a lot of support form Beijing every year.  Civilians in Tibet cities come to have motor vehicles of their own and some of them have independent houses instead of one room in apartments. No reason to fight for the freedom of religion because the religion in Tibet is totally free. A family can exist even if its members have different religions.

So actually those īprotestantsī are airborne troops who have no roots in Tibet.

Please Learn a little more facts about Chinese policy in Tibet

Please Learn a little more facts about Chinese policy in Tibet, donīt get overwhelmed by the words of CCP or Repression thrown at you by your biased media.

The Tibetans is a officially recognized minority in China which are given much more advantages by the government compare to the Han Chinese. They donīt have to follow the One Child Policy, they get some free points on the National Collage Extrance Exam, they get more bonus on government jobs, and get to retire early. Dude, its the policy that is been practicing for 50 years! Why the hell would they demend the freeken independece all of the sudden, especailly after their spirtual leader openly said that Tibet is not going to do well without China?! How many of you knows anything about this? How many western media actually say a word about this. You probably only learn this if you are going to major in politics, otherwise you are being fooled just like everyone else.

Just to tell you a little more, the central government is spending a huge of amount of money on Tibet every year to help building its economy. It built  the worldīs highest railroad all the Tibet, ending its isolation that existed for thousands of years. You may say that the Chinese is destroying their culture by letting Han Chinese move into Tibet. F*ck off! The Chinese are not going to treat them like how America treats the Indians, putting them in little tribe, give them free money, and let them to whatever they want. Eventually these people become depended on the government like an animal. The Chinese are not as stupid!

Totally Agree with Shawn

What you see is probably like a cell of an entire body, which really means nothing.

Go back and learn a little unbiased history of Tibet and see how the Tibet became part of China way before the so called 1959 communist invasion, and learn how British was tyring to take Tibet away from China 300 years ago and see how CIA provoked Tibetan resistance to Chinese in 1959 with all its agents in Tibet.

And finally look at the attacks on Chinese embassy in India and think how is that a  "peaceful protest" as some of you believe.

Tibetans Fight Back

Thank you for describing the situation in Lhasa. Reading your blog entry gave me goose bumps and made me incredibly sad.

My friend Tony and I spent a month in Tibet last September and love the country and the Tibetan people. When we were in Lhasa, we had some interesting conversations with some of the monks and they told us that something was going to happen in 2008 - just before the Olympics. They said they wanted to get the worldīs attention and had to take drastic steps. As we were talking to them, you could see the fear in their eyes looking around them to make sure nobody was listening. When Chinese visitors or even other monks came into the room, they would shut up immediately and started talking about the protector deities on the walls.

I do want Tibetans to fight back and I want the world to join in but at the same time, I donīt want people to get hurt. From personal experience, I know that sometimes you have to fight and pursue your goals even when it is an uphill battle.

whatīs the truth?

how sure about what you see, hear from feweople,or media?

i am living in China now. iīve  realized  how westners and media use biased views towards china. we have to use our brains, standing in othersī shoes, to make judgement. we cannot judge others with different beliefs and values by our own.
thatīs not fair.

i take one simple example of holywood star Mr. Geer and Cloony, who support Dalailama and T freedom. They obviously have had some contacts with Dalai who hasnīt  been in his country for 49 nine years (does he know ordinary peopleīs real life and views about independence?), but have they been to T or other part of China? Have they done some in-depth research yet? OR is it just fashionable to get involved with anti-Chinaīs affairs?

I do sense that the westners treat China as a threat, and not like the idea of having a stable richer China.

Iīve got a great idea

Since Deng Xiaoping, China has been learning from the West in its modernization efforts. China should also learn something else the West. For example, China could copy the US and Canada in how to treat their native people. Early Europeans first killed 95% of North American Indians, through slaughter and diseases. Those survived were driven off their ancestral land into concentration camps to be segregated. The white people call it "reserves" or "reservations" in the US. That was not the end of it. The governments then used churches to take away native children from their parents by force, so as to make sure that they would become "white" by losing their language and culture. At the same time, those wonderful priests could abuse these children sexually and physically... Today North American Indians are a bunch of happy people sniffing gas and being drunk all the time. I recommend the Chinese government learn from the Americans and Canadians so that Tibetans will, one day, become a happy people huddling in some reserves somewhere in Inner Mongolia. What a great idea?

If you really care about the truth

I live in US and got to know about the riot in Tibet from the multimedia here. Then I called my tibetan friends to make sure things are fine with them.

I have been to Tibet several times and made a lot of friends there including many tibetants.

My friend told me, some tibetan were chasing people on the streets, burning the stores and several peopl were killed in fire. She as a tibetan actually saved one of her Chinese friend who hided in her house to be safe.

Well, as a Chinese I feel sad for some people, who donīt really know the situation and took their positions right away without even thinking.

If you really care about humanity, why donīt you shed a tear for the people who were killed in this riot? Shame on you.

i just want people respect each other, live together peaceful. history is complicated. if u do care history, several hundreds years ago, there is no u.s, no canada, no austrilia on the world, so should we wipe off all these countries from the map? letīs respect the reality. now the xizang(tibet) is legally under control by chinese government. itīs a fact acknowledged by the world. so letīs live together and solve the problem together, not beat each other. if u do care the history, ok, for hundreds of years, u western people rob china, rob asia, rob africa, occupy america, occupy austrica, occupy iraq, u guys just like virus spread yr so call "Industrial Revolution" all over the world , destorying the envirement of the earth. so should we beat u any yr grandfather and burn yr house?

ok, who is tibeten? there are also many han nation people born there and live there many years. should we kill them all or burn their house and drive them away? or should all the white guys leave america and australia and give back the lands to aborigines?
u guys are so excited to see people fight each other in other countries. western always encourage independent war in other countries. nowadays there are too many wars in the name of independent. people kill each other just because they are different races or different religions.
i live in canada, a mutilculture country, many different nation people have been lived here on different stages. and now there are more than 2000 different races  while only 224 countries on the earth. should we seperate the earth to 2000 countries so every race get independent? come on, only the politicians are interested in it because the power.

Serf owners like Dalai should pay to their serfs.

You or your old relatives should go to prisions, or stay out of Tibet as you do.

Your Tibetan parasites should pay to serfs

Your crimes to serfs have yet to be punished.

Go back to China to get punished or stay out of it at you do.

This is posted to Tony in Canada.  I have lived in China and other Asian countries and have traveled to Tibet.  While living in China I found that the Chinese are very nice people, but the government keeps a very tight grip on any information that the people are allowed to know.  My tv and internet were highly censored.  Not in a subtle way, but with progamming abruptly shut down when anything was broadcast that didnīt jive with what the government wanted known.  While in Tibet there was a strong police and military presence.  More than I have witnessed anywhere in the world!!

What I believe the Chinese government needs to do is confront what they consider to be inflammatory and get it over with.  Once things are out in the open there is not longer a need for censorship and life can go on at an easier pace. People in China are afraid to voice their opinions and know that the consequences can be hard.  Even ferry personel who saw us with an international paper warned us to cover it up, so we would not get into trouble when retuning to the mainland.

I believe that the riots in Lhasa and elsewhere are a result of a hardline taken by the government against the native Tibetans.  There needs to be a genuine attempt to resolve the issues behind these protests and a meeting with the Dalai Lama or his respresentatives that is based in sincerity.

THANKS Steve and Ulrike for this great blog and for being so helpful in relaying to the world on what you saw in Tibet!!!  With the Chinese censoring so heavily on what people in China and Tibet see on TV and the internet as well as what is relayed out to the rest of the world, blogs and information like these really mean a lot to us Tibetans.  Unlike the innocent faces that the Chinese are trying to show to the world, with all the hiding (not allowing media and tourists inside Tibet) and all the desperate entries in this blog (by obviously Chinese brain washed dead beaters) it is OBVIOUS China is hiding a lot of things that they are ashamed off!  If China is really innocent and the Tibetan rioters are what they claim as criminals, then why donīt they open Tibet up to the world and let the world judge for themselves!

Give me a break!

I am an American of European stock.  I think there are many good, honest, intelligent Chinese people who support the actions of their government to suppress the violence in Xizang Autonomous Region.  The reason the press and tourist are being excluded is that the violent agitators are performing for the world audience, and the sooner the spotlight is turned off, the sooner the situation will be under control.  Those who want to split Xizang Autonomous Region away from China know that the Chinese will never agree to this, even if the Olympics are cancelled, even if the economy tanks.  They will not allow the western countries to dictate their internal affairs.  But how about you guys?  What part of your country would you give away to earn the worldīs approval?  I thought so.  Well, why not "put your own house in order first?"  Find some victims of your country, whether aboriginies or those of other cultures who are mistreated or the poor of whatever and give an example to China as to how to take care of your own, and I am sure the Chinese will take notice.  In the meantime, why punish China for doing what all countries do and are still doing?  For example, donīt the Kurds living in Turkey and Iraq deserve justice?  Why do the European nations and the United States bravely defend Turkey and never demand what they demand from China, that the culture and language of the native Kurds be respected, and how about cultural genocide? What about the Armenians in Turkey?  That was real genocide.  And is there any police department in the world that has not "over-reacted" to violence on the part of mobs?  But stop instigating violence in Xizang Autonomous Region, because it is counter-productive, will never lead to peace, will never force the Chinese government to give away that land, and will never lead to better living conditions for the native Tibeten ethnic group or any other people living there or anywhere.

china needs more open

china needs more democracy, but not more violence. i donīt like the chinese government, althought they are efficient economy builder. i donīt understanding why they have so stupid censor system. indeed, most of the people know what happens and they can find lots of information throught the internet. the government just donīt allow people talk aloud but even the government officer are whispering.
we should push the government, but i donīt think itīs a good idea to dedicate thousands of lives to topple down the government while we can not guarantee the future is better. indeed, i donīt really care the concept of "conuntry", itīs only a political thing. in the future, people should have the right to live whereever they want and put the so call country into gabage. and i donīt think other races have no right to live in tibet.
if somebody wants to dedicate his life to his freedom, just fight the government by himself, not beating other innocent neighbor. if dalai is really a hero, go back to his hometown like Benazir Bhutto, donīt use otherīs lives.

Imagine thereīs no heaven,
Itīs easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people

Imagine thereīs no countries,
It isnīt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say Iīm a dreamer,

I hope some day youīll join us,
And the world will live as one.

We safely reached Kathmandu

Afther the expected problems at the border we safely reached Kathmandu. We were kept for two and a half hours at the immigration office. They searched our luggage, memory-stick, CD´s, camera´s. We were lucky to have 6 good friends waiting outside the immigration office, refusing to cross the border without us.

The officials didn´t give us a word of explanation why they did this. But it´s obvious isn´t it?

We are back in a free country now, it´s a great relief. We will use our free speech to support the Tibetans.

By the way: while we were searched troughoutly, other tourists were crossing the border easily with hundreds of pictures and movies of the riots in Lhasa. We hope they reach the media soon!

traditional medias always present the political standpoint of their bosses. the difference between BBC/CNN and ccpīs media is that they do it more tricky. wise people know they can use the internet, search different points, read more, know more, and think by yourself.

And by the way, to support your action, I have decided to learn tibetan, the "freezed" language where each word is like a snowflake. Thank you Tournadre, and the others, to keep the tibetan culture alive, facing another genocide. pA.

BBC Whitewashes Tibet

As Tibetans face bullets, torture and prison for challenging Chinaīs brutal occupation of their nation, the BBC is screening a distorted and selective film on Tbet that completely misrepresents the cultural and political reality of life inside Tibet. Please oppose this shameful film by adding your name and comment on the online petition

Just because the film does not please you does not mean it misrepresents Tibet.
====
Finally I am seeing some people here speaking with logic.
Just to point out for those who believe Dalai is never calling for independence, his so-called autonomy of Tibet include kicking out all ethnic Han Chinese of the "greater Tibet area", removal of all Chinese military bases in that area, and allow Tibet to deal with international organizations without being supervized by the Central government. How is this any different than independence?
if you donīt believe me go check the "future consitution" by the exile government, itīs in there. And itīs obvious evidence proving Dalai is a lying politician. Itīs just that the free western media would never mention it.

FREE TIBET MADE-IN-CHINA.

Developing nation standard, but improving always.

Chinaīs sovereignty over Tibet never denied by governments of the world.  Only denied by pseudo-academics and NGOs and political activists.

Chinaīs sovereignty not even on the agenda when UN discussed Tibet: 1950, 1959, 1961, 1965.

No wonder Tibet has so many problems.  The Dalai Lamaīs independence movement, armed uprisings, guerilla attacks approved by him...
