High in the Himalaya´sWith the whole group we arrived safely in Leh. Comparing to Dehli this is a leisurely paradise. We have been travelling for 3 days, but it seems like a week. Especially the flood of impressions in Dehli seems to extend the time..
Saturday around midnight the group arrived from Belgium. It was nice to meet again and feel their enthusiasm. Their first reactions: ‘look at those cows!’, ‘holly ghost, I’m sweating, what will that be tomorrow when the sun is up?’, ‘I’ll have to learn how to cross a street here´, ...
And yes, the next morning was really hot. Even right after a shower, you were soaked again. We started the day racing in 3 motor taxis through the crowded streets of old Dehli. We are feeling just like driving on a carrousel, a roller coaster trying not to crash. Such a fascinating active life around us. Like a dream World: cows, colours, flavours, impressions. As if you are in a huge sauna. Every one is enjoying.
The night was short, sleepless, hot. At 3.00 in the morning we had to take the taxi to the airport for a spectacular flight over the snowy peaks of the Himalaya. The fresh air and the high peaks felt lovely at the arrival. And now we are here in the relaxing little town of Leh, in an authentic little guesthouse with a view on the snowy Himalaya peaks. Convents, stoepas, religious statements in the scenery, all those friendly people, their Tibetan houses and most of all the huge and peaceful surroundings, it’s beautiful. But we still take it easy as we are feeling the influence of the heights. Except of a little headache, everyone is doing fairly well. Hope we will be acclimated soon.
Tomorrow in the afternoon we are going by jeep to the quiet village of Stock, where we will be staying for 4 days in a little farm with a Ladakhi family. There we will get an introduction in meditation and sensitive mounting walking. And this we will put into practise straightaway by doing a firm daytrip in the mountains. More about it in our next mail...
